SMS Terms & Consent

1. Program description
MyChai is an SMS-based ordering service for SoGro coffee in Pacifica, California. The entire customer experience runs over SMS: customers text their drink order to the MyChai number and receive transactional replies confirming the order, asking clarifying questions, sharing a secure one-time link to add a payment method, and notifying them when their drink is ready.
2. How consent is collected
MyChai never sends an unsolicited message. A consumer becomes opted-in only by performing one of the following affirmative acts:
- Web form opt-in. The consumer visits getmychai.com and submits the sign-up form with their name and mobile number. Adjacent to the submit button, the form discloses: "By tapping 'Get My Chai,' you authorize MyChai to send automated SMS about your orders to the number provided. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Consent is not a condition of purchase," along with links to this SMS Terms page and the Privacy Policy. Submission is the affirmative opt-in and is logged with phone number, name, IP, user agent, and timestamp.
- SMS opt-in. The MyChai number is shared in person at SoGro and on in-store signage ("Text CHAI to [MyChai number] to start"). The consumer texts the MyChai number first. Recognized opt-in keywords include START, UNSTOP, YES, SUBSCRIBE, CHAI, and COFFEE. A consumer may also opt in by texting a drink order in natural language (e.g. "chai oat") โ that inbound message is itself the affirmative opt-in. Sender phone, message body, and timestamp are logged.
First-reply disclosure. MyChai's first automated reply to a newly opted-in consumer (whether via web form or SMS) includes the program name ("MyChai"), the type of messages they will receive (transactional order messages from SoGro in Pacifica), frequency disclosure ("Msg freq varies"), rate disclosure ("Msg & data rates may apply"), and the keywords HELP and STOP. Example:
"Welcome to MyChai! ๐ You're opted in to transactional order messages from SoGro in Pacifica โ text your drink anytime, ready in ~15 min. First chai is on us. Msg freq varies, msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."
Opt-in records (phone number, opt-in channel, timestamp, and either the form submission metadata or the inbound message body) are retained for the lifetime of the customer's relationship with the program as proof of consent.
3. Message types & frequency
MyChai sends only transactional messages tied to a specific order: order confirmations, clarification questions, payment-setup links, payment receipts, and ready-for-pickup notifications. MyChai does not send marketing, promotional, or recurring broadcast SMS.
Message frequency varies based on how often a customer orders โ typically 1โ4 messages per order.
Message and data rates may apply. Standard SMS and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply to any message sent to or received from MyChai.
4. Opt-out, opt back in & help
Opt-out and help are handled exclusively over SMS. These keywords are honored automatically by the MyChai webhook and are not subject to any additional friction (no web form, no login, no email round-trip):
- Opt out: reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE) to any MyChai message. You will receive a single confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and will receive no further messages from the program.
- Opt back in: reply START to the MyChai number to resume messaging.
- Help: reply HELP for program identification and contact information, or email hello@getmychai.com.
5. Carrier liability
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery of SMS messages is subject to effective transmission from your network operator and is not guaranteed by MyChai.
6. Privacy
Phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent records collected by MyChai are used solely to operate the ordering service. SMS opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
