1. Who we are

MyChai is an SMS-based ordering service operated for SoGro coffee in Pacifica, California. This policy explains what information we collect when you use MyChai, how we use it, and your choices.

2. Information we collect

  • Mobile phone number. Provided either by texting the MyChai number or by submitting our website signup form.
  • SMS message content. The text of inbound and outbound SMS messages between you and MyChai (drink orders, clarifications, confirmations).
  • Order details. Drink summary, timestamps, order status, and amount charged.
  • Payment information. Card details are entered directly into our payment processor (Stripe) and are never stored on MyChai's servers. We retain only a Stripe-issued payment method identifier so we can charge your card for future orders you place.
  • Optional name and notes. If you provide your name during card setup or feedback in our signup form, we store it to personalize order handoff at the shop.

3. How we use your information

  • To receive, parse, and fulfill your drink orders.
  • To send transactional SMS (confirmations, ready-for-pickup, payment receipts).
  • To process payment for your orders via Stripe.
  • To forward your order and name to the shop so staff can label your drink.
  • To honor opt-out requests and maintain compliance records.

We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, or advertising purposes.

4. SMS consent & third-party sharing

MyChai does not share SMS opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number, the fact that you opted in, and the messages you exchange with MyChai stay within the systems we use to operate the service. They are never sold, rented, or shared with marketers, data brokers, or any third party for their own use.

5. Service providers we rely on

To operate MyChai we rely on a small number of vendors that process data strictly on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes of delivering the service:

  • Surge — delivers SMS to and from your phone.
  • Stripe — processes payments and stores card information.
  • Supabase — hosts our database and backend functions.
  • Google (Gemini) — parses your inbound SMS into a structured order. Message content is sent for parsing only and is not used to train models.

These vendors are contractually prohibited from using your information for their own marketing. We do not sell your personal information.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

6. Data retention

We retain your phone number, order history, and SMS opt-in record for the lifetime of your relationship with MyChai, plus a reasonable period afterward for compliance, fraud prevention, and tax recordkeeping. If you opt out via STOP, we keep a minimal suppression record so we don't accidentally message you again.

7. Your choices

  • Opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP to any MyChai message.
  • Get help by replying HELP to any MyChai message.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us (see Contact below).

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), access controls on our backend, and reliance on PCI-compliant payment infrastructure for card data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to minimize risk.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated via SMS or on this page.
